Hey everybody, this is Heidi St. John.

Welcome back to the Busy Mom podcast.

Today I'm going to take just a few minutes, and you guys know I mean just a few minutes.

Each of these podcasts, I'm shooting for a right around 15 minutes. So, depends on how

fired up I get, I guess. But I'm shooting for 15 minutes. And today I'm going to talk to you

about the power of prayer and why it is so important. The Bible says that if my people who are

called by my name will humble themselves and pray and turn from their sin, then I will hear them from

heaven and will heal their land. There is power in prayer. Oswald Chambers said that prayer is an

effort of the will, meaning it takes effort on our part. It takes our human nature is not to just, at least mine's

not, is not to get on my knees and pray at the first time of trouble. My first reaction, and I'll

be perfectly honest, is to react in my flesh. It's to call a friend or to talk to my husband

and complain to him, or it's to try to fix it of my own volition.

And that's not what God wants us to do.

He wants us to be men and women of prayer.

So that's going to be the focus today for the next 10 minutes or so.
