Thanks to all of you. And the title of today's post is, the power of our covenantal history. When preparing to share at the flashpoint

gala this past Saturday night, Holy Spirit reminded me of David's victory over Goliath,

applying the story to our battle today with spiritual giants. What many do not know is that David

defeated Goliath on the strength of his covenantal history, not the slaying in the stones.

The lessons are important for us. The first, and the first thing God tells us in the story is the location of the battle.

1 Samuel 17 1 and 2.

Now the Philistines gathered their armies for battle, and they were gathered at Sokaw,

which belongs to Judah.

And they camp between Sokha and Azekah and Ephes Damim, Saul and the men of Israel

were gathered and camped in the valley of Eliah and grew up in battle array to encounter the Philistines.

Goliath's description, the drama of his taunts, the fear of the Israelites, David, the young

sheep herder, the battle. Off with the giant's head! I skipped those two boring verses for the first 60 years of my life and missed a nugget.

This location was in the territory of Judah, which was the tribe of Israel, David was part of.

Holy Spirit was informing us right from the start that this land belonged to David and his tribe. It had been given to them by God generations ago. David had

more than squatters' rights to the property the giant was trying to claim.

If he followed God's instructions, the truth of these first two verses of the story assured him of victory.
