hey everybody this is Heidi St. John. Welcome to the Busy Mom podcast. I'm here today with

0:43.9

Dorinda Wilson. Hey, Durinda. And we're, we're going to kind of pick up where we left off the other day.

0:50.7

We've been talking about the offended brother and what happens when someone offends you. I don't know what you think, Dorenda, but I feel like we live in a culture of everybody's offended about everything. Yeah. You noticed that? Yeah, we talked about that in the last podcast. Is that happening in your little town of Spokane too? It happens everywhere. All over Facebook. I was actually hoping that you were

1:11.0

going to say, oh, absolutely not. I should move to Spokane because we don't get offended there.

1:16.1

And I think part of it, particularly in the Christian community, I mean, we cannot speak to

1:21.6

how people behave outside of the Christian community, but we can speak to how Christians are

1:26.6

called to behave. And the Bible has a lot to say about not being easily, but we can speak to how Christians are called to behave.

1:28.0

And the Bible has a lot to say about not being easily offended, that we're supposed to take the

1:32.1

plank out of our own eye. And then the other aspect, the other side of this coin is the person

1:40.1

1:53.7

others. In Matthew 6, 14, it says, if you forgive others for their transgressions, your Heavenly Father will also

2:01.7

forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your father will not forgive your

2:06.0

transgressions. Really, what he's saying is that forgiving others is a necessity. It's not an

2:11.9

option. Right. And I heard it said a long time ago that, in reference to bitterness, someone was talking to me

2:18.4

about some, and I'll talk about this more in a minute, but about something I was having a hard time

2:22.6

letting go. And I wasn't necessarily struggling with bitterness at that point, but I could see

2:27.5

it was moving that direction. If I had let it go, certainly. And my friend said to me, you know,

2:33.3

Heidi, she had heard it said that if you are, your bitterness towards somebody is like, it would have been like me swallowing poison and expecting the other person to die. Yeah, I love that. Yeah. So I feel like, oh, I'm going to get that person back by not forgiving them. Right. But really, the person I'm hurting is myself. Yeah. I'm hurting myself. I'm hurting my husband, hurting my kids,

2:51.8

the ones I do love in and walk in everyday relationship with, suffer from my lack of forgiving
