Number one, what California looks like after Kevin McCarthy.

Max Cohen sends in this dispatch today about life for California Republicans in the post-McCarthy era. Now, what we could say about Kevin McCarthy is that he gave a lot of money to a lot of people,

including most especially, I would say, and most fervently, most actively to California Republicans.

So these California Republicans are now getting less money. We could say that for sure.

Now, there's a lot of argument between Team Johnson and its allies and Team McCarthy

and its allies about just how much these folks are giving, just how much

the leaders give to members of Congress. Now, let's say this. Members of Congress,

especially members of leadership, count money in the way that they'd like, right? Like,

they count money. they count donations to

members of Congress how they want to. Some count the, um, the money that they raise for members

of Congress. Some say if they go to an event and put their arm around a member, that counts for a

donation.

But let's just talk in absolute terms.
