Summary

The Pope Ignores the AI Elephant in the Room - A Deep Dive into the True Origins of AI The Pope’s first encyclical addresses AI and the threat it poses to humanity. The encyclical discusses the issues surrounding AI and recommends ways to deal with it going forward, but there is no mention whatsoever of the true origins of AI much less its purpose. Today I expose the origins of AI largely using its own words—it’s very simple where it came from and whence it continues to grow, but no mention of the that from the Vatican. Coming up in the next episode in this series, the purpose of AI and then the agenda revealed through the words of the Pope’s encyclical itself. so I'm not sure it's going to fit into all one show.

0:25.2

It's about the encyclical, the first encyclical of Pope Leo the 14th, if I understand correctly,

0:31.8

and it's about AI and humanity.

0:35.2

So let's see if I can pronounce the, it's Magnifica, Humanitas. So it's 86 pages.

So I decided, okay, I'm going to read this. It's single space. It's very long. I'm not sure

0:50.9

anybody else has read the whole thing, even though you can read tons of stuff about it.

0:56.3

And I was tempted for a minute to ask AI to summarize it for me.

1:02.4

And I resisted that temptation because we know we can't trust AI for stuff like that, for sure or not.

1:09.9

Especially interpretation. But so I read it myself,

1:13.5

I read it actually to like in the 50s of pages and then he turns to the topic of war. And I would

1:20.0

like to deal with that separately and what I think about his, uh, his positions on that and a totally different topic.

1:30.5

But I read this thing, it's about, he makes references to a lot of other popes encyclicals.

1:36.0

He makes a lot of references to non-Catholics, which I think is a kind of weird
