| 0:15.8 | impact on Florida schools in his first term. The governor said he was just |
| 0:21.4 | getting started from his inaugural address in January. We must ensure school |
| 0:27.2 | systems are responsive to parents and to students not partisan interest groups. |

| 1:10.6 | to a public magnet, a public charter. If you take a tax credit scholarship and go to |
| 1:15.4 | a private school or if you use an ESA for home school to me that is all the |
| 1:20.5 | public's commitment to make sure that our kids have the best education. DeSantis |
| 1:25.7 | also proposed a civics test as a requirement for high school graduation. He |
| 1:30.6 | eliminated common core education standards for Florida and replaced it with |
| 1:35.0 | state-based benchmarks for excellent student thinking which he said would |
| 1:39.6 | support his focus on civics and American history. In 2021 Governor DeSantis |
| 1:44.9 | turned his attention from testing American history to how it is taught. We have |
| 1:50.4 | a responsibility to stand for the truth to stand for what's right and we're |
