Hello and welcome to the Foley Charge Show podcast, I'm Helen Cherisky. The G7 summit

0:24.4

in Cornwall has been all over the news. It was held from June the 11th to the 13th, so it's

0:30.2

just gone as I record this. And the leaders of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK,

0:37.8

the USA and the EU all sat down with representatives of Australia, India and South Korea for a very

0:45.0

serious discussion about all kinds of issues. And of course, the future of energy and transport

0:50.1

was on the agenda, along with lots of other stuff. So we thought this would be a great opportunity

0:55.2

to explore international policy on energy and transport. And my guess this week is Rob

1:01.8

Gross, who is a professor of energy technology and policy at Imperial College London. And he's also

1:07.1

the director of the UK Energy Research Centre, which goes by the acronym U-CURK. We talked about

1:13.8

all sorts of things. You know, the things I'm really interested are whether those big energy

1:18.1

policies really do make a difference and what are the biggest bottlenecks when it comes to policies

1:22.8

for the future. And why does it seem, you know, to those of you who are just watching me outside,

1:28.3

policy seems to move so slowly. So Rob makes a great argument that policy has launched a really

1:34.4

big shift in our energy supply. And so it was really interesting to hear at some of the historical

1:39.0

context leading to the policies we have today. So here is the conversation.

1:53.2

My energy is putting the eye back into British innovation. My energy is putting the eye back

1:59.7

into inventing the future. My energy is putting the eye back into inspiring a nation.

2:05.6

Recharging the world with green smart energy. Charge your EV with your PV and more.

Visit myenergy.com and help to spark the green revolution. My energy driving the charge to a

2:22.8

greener future. Rob, thank you for joining us on fully charged. Let's get stuck straight in.

2:32.4

We've just had a whole load of stuff in the news about the G7 summit. And obviously they

2:37.6

discussed lots of things there. There's all kinds of problems in the world need discussing.
