But in July 23, what should have been a simple family lunch turned into a wild horror story

straight out of a forensic mystery novel, a meal that killed three people, a survivor clinging

to life, and one question that still haunts investigators,

was it an accident or something much darker?

Meet Erin Patterson,

a seemingly normal woman in a seemingly normal town.

July 29, 2023, she did what countless hosts do every weekend. She invited family over

for lunch. Among the guests were her former in-laws, Gail and Don Patterson, along with Gail's sister,

Heather Wilkinson, and Heather's husband, Ian, nothing unusual.

Just a quiet afternoon meal in the countryside, except by nightfall, they were all dying.

At first, it seemed like a bad case of food poisoning, nausea, vomiting,

sweating. But within hours, things took a such sinister turn. The symptoms weren't mild. They were

excruciating. The guest's organs were shutting down.

By morning, all four were soft rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Gail, Don and Heather didn't make it.

Ian survived, but only after a desperate fight for his life and a liver transplant.
