Oregon coast, at essentially the edge of the world, I wanted to thank you for checking in on me

after alluding to a treacherous Thanksgiving weekend during last week's broadcast. I also told you

that I'd share that story with you tonight, and so do you have a minute? Black Friday was pretty

dark and teed for my wife and I, as we dropped our car off at Portland dealership for maintenance.

We drove back home through a forested highway, cutting up through the ridge line in the hills,

until a corner we came upon a herd of elk in the middle of the highway. Niels say we hit an

elk and it was like a scene from a movie. Everything went dark and it was a smash cut and awakened in

the car as my ears were ringing, the cabin full of smoke, every airbag deployed. The first thing I

did was look over to see if my wife who was driving was okay and it's this part that I can't really

recount without getting emotional because there was a minute where I thought she may have been her.

I've never experienced that in my life and I did on that night. So she was fine. Her head was down

but only because she was focused and steering towards the edge of the road to get out from the

middle of the road. So we pulled over, we were able to get out, we were able to bend the doors back

and get out of the car. Someone had pulled over right next to us and said, hey, I'll go forward
