Summary

After two straight away games, the Tar Heels are back in Kenan Stadium this Saturday to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. This weekend also coincides with the yearly Homecoming event, which will hopefully boost the number of fans who will be in Chapel Hill to cheer on Carolina in this matchup. While Homecoming is primarily viewed as a fan-centric event, especially for the alumni who will be returning to their alma mater this weekend, former-UNC players Mike Ingersoll and Taylor Vippolis join host Jon Seiglie to give their perspective on the event. The trio also discuss Georgia Tech and their unique brand of offense before turning to the UNC QB situation and then closing out the podcast with frank talks about Carolina's efforts to reach out to former football lettermen. So guys, let's start this one off with something that I have seen brought up.

0:38.8

I don't know how many countless times since Paul Johnson became the head coach of Georgia Tech.

0:44.6

And that is that Georgia Tech triple option offense.

Now, we were hoping to get EG on this one, but unfortunately he is under the weather today.

0:53.1

So we're going to hear from the two former offensive players, but I wanted to get y'all's

0:58.6

perspective.

0:59.5

And Mike, let's start with you because I feel this is where the number one controversy about

1:05.0

Georgia Tech lies is their offensive blocking scheme.

1:09.0

And we've talked about it several times, but hey, it's that time of year.

1:13.6

They have the reputation of cut blocking all the time and chop blocking and basically

1:19.9

playing a little bit dirty on their offensive line to spring their running backs and make

1:24.7

that offense work.

1:26.1

As an offensive lineman yourself, do you think, number one,

1:30.5

that that reputation is earned by Georgia Tech? And number two, what are your thoughts on how

1:36.7

they conduct their offense in general? To answer your first question, I don't think Georgia Tech plays dirty, and I don't think that – I don't think that Paul Johnson's offense and their blocking schemes that are associated with it necessarily result in dirty plays.

1:55.4

I don't think cut blocking is dirty by any stretch of the imagination.

1:58.8

It's an effective offensive line technique.
