Sarah nervously pulled up the collar for uniform, trying to smooth out a crease.

It was the early 1980s and she was a newly qualified nurse, so she was eager to make

a good impression at San Antonio's Bear County Hospital.

She knew her job was to stay calm and project an air of comforting stability amidst the chaos,

but working in the pediatric ICU was more upsetting than she'd counted on.

She'd only done a few shifts so far, but she was already feeling depleted.

Taking a deep breath, she headed into the break room to grab a cup of coffee before her
