It's an odd week, this. I don't know how much of it you've clocked. It feels like quite a momentous

week to me for news. Not oddly, if you're interested in such matters, not necessarily a momentous

week for phone-in topics, but there's a lot going on, isn't there? I think it's deeply significant

that Cammy Badenock seems to have been mugged by reality when it comes to Brexit.

It's pretty remarkable to see one of the stormtroopers of the so-called culture wars,

acknowledging that the bedrock of the culture wars is falling to pieces.

The bedrock, of course, being Brexit, the idea that you talk things up

and invent problems in order to enrage and distract people, being the bedrock of culture

war and indeed the rationale for Brexit.

So she's now accused conservative Brexiteers, that dreadful word, which the Times even uses

today, of talking not doing, as she robustly defended plans to recognize

reality. I mean, crick, better late than never, don't you think? This idea, what do you mean

they all just talk and don't do? None of them ever had a plan for anything. None of them

ever had the vaguest idea, how to deliver all of the ludicrous promises that they continue to make.
