Hello, welcome back to the Thinking Fellows podcast. This is Scott Keith. I'm here once more with Dr. Rod Rosenblot and Dr. Adam Francisco.

Today we're going to talk a little bit. We've been leading up to this through everything we've been doing so far to talk about the person and work of Christ.

As we were sitting around talking about the show before we began recording, Dr. Rosenblot

mentioned something that I remember that our dogmatian, Piper, he calls this the center,

right?

Calls this the hub.

Everything comes off of this.

Everything is built on this.

And I thought it would be good maybe today to start with Luther from the small catechism.

So if in the audience, anyone was brought up Luther, and they'll probably remember this.

His explanation to the second article of the creed, which has specifically to do with the person

of work of Jesus Christ.

And so I thought I'd just read it for you, because

in my mind, it's probably the best concise explanation of why this is so important. So this is Luther.

I believe that Jesus Christ is truly God, born of the Father in eternity and also truly human,

born of the Virgin Mary. Christ is my Lord. Christ redeemed me a lost and condemned person.

Bought and won me from all sin, death, and the authority of the devil, or the power of the devil.

It did not cost him gold or silver, but his holy precious blood, his innocent body, his death.
