So this morning I want to tell you the story about David.

He has a lot to teach us about what's possible.

David was the eldest of three children that was born on September 9, 1890 in Henryville,

Indiana.

David's dad Wilbur worked as a butcher.

When David was five years old, his dad came home with the fever and died later that

day.

His mother required work in a tomato cannery.

While their mother was away for days at a time for work, David was required to look after

his other two siblings.

In 1902, when David was 12, his mother remarried.

David had a tumultuous relationship with the new stepfather, dropped out of the 7th grade

and moved out.

David falsified his date of birth and enlisted in the United States Army in October 19

1906.

He was discharged just a year later.

So at age 19, he married Josephine.

They had a son who then later died from infectious tonsils.

David was working on the railroad until he lost the job.
