my dad was placed on hospice care in March. He was 88 and at the end of his life he was suffering

with Parkinson's disease and heart failure given six to nine months to live. He developed a painful

case of shingles and boy I can vouch for that. Shingles is no

fun. I had it once, and I hope I never have it again. She says we decided to initiate hospice

to control his pain. The day the hospice worker came to evacuate him, he was coughing and had a

slight fever, which we were told could be consistent with end-of-life

symptoms. They started pain medications immediately to make him comfortable, but he never regained

consciousness. We asked the doctor to at least start an IV to keep him hydrated, and they refused,

saying it could, or it would go into his lungs and make him worse.

He lived for five days without food or water and I believe he died from dehydration, which

makes me so incredibly sad that we allowed this to happen. But we listened to what the doctor

said. Did we commit a sin? I have gone to confession, but I cannot shake the the doctor said did we commit a sin i have gone to confession but i cannot shake the

feeling that we did something wrong well first my sincere heartfelt condolences to you and your family
