But the point is, I shared with you a startling comment from an evolutionary psychologist, his name is

God Saad, S-A-A-A-D. His first name is G-A-D. And I listed all of his professional credentials,

and he's a professor at a major New York University, et cetera, et cetera.

Point being is that he said that in his classes where this topic comes up, he asks the

class at the university, what do you think are the number one, what do you think is the number

one predictor of child abuse in the home?

And lots of different plausible answers come up. So alcoholism,

nobody, he didn't mention pornography, although I wouldn't be surprised if some of the students

mention that, pornography in the home. It's ubiquitous nowadays. But he said, actually,

the number one indicator in terms of his research is the presence of a step parent. Now, by step parent,

I don't know if he's emphasizing more heavily the stepfather or the stepmother. I haven't seen the

data, so I can't evaluate it. But he says step parents. So we're talking a little bit about that because, at least for me anyway, that was kind

of a counterintuitive thought.
