I saw something recently I wanted to share with you before we get back to the emails.

I think you're going to like this, especially if you're a dude, a man.

You just want to be a good man, right?

Of course you do.

So Cardinal John Henry Newman, he, I have talked about him from time to time.

He was a very intellectual and prolific writer in the early part of the 19th century in England.

And he was a Church of England minister, very much in the evangelical world of Protestantism, although he opposed certain excesses

within Protestantism, but he was in that world himself until he decided to write a book,

when I say until you'll understand in a moment why this is the case, he wanted to write a book

that would definitively refute Catholic claims to being the church that Christ established.

And he said, that's poppycock or something like that.

And he wanted to historically dismantle this claim of the Catholic Church and show that it doesn't hold water.

And he engaged in the research and knowing the languages very well.

He was a master of Latin and Greek, and he set about to read the church fathers and look at the church councils and things.

In other words, examined the facts of history so he could pluck out all these juicy examples of where the early church was certainly not Catholic

in the sense that the average person understands that term. And much to his shock and surprise,

and eventually after fruitlessly trying to make this case, he realized that the facts of the matter

were actually the opposite, and that far from

the Catholic Church not being present and accounted for in the early church, what he found,
