I posted something on my Twitter feed this morning that I thought I just mentioned to you because

maybe you know somebody who says what many people say, and that is, God loves me just the way

I am. Well, that's true, but he loves you too much to let you stay that way. And that's a reality

for all of us. It's a reality for me. It's certainly a reality for you and everyone that we know. God does love you just the way you are, but he loves you too much to let you stay that way. So I included in that post, if you're interested, just a little snippet from one of my books. This is a book called Why Be Catholic, published by Random House. Here's the snippet. Many confuse freedom with a kind of carte blanche

ability to do whatever one wants. 21st century America is steeped in carte blanche mentality in which

you are encouraged subtly and not so subtly to indulge your every desire, no matter how debauched

and nefarious, especially in the realm of sex and

entertainment.

The gradual legalization of practically all forms of pornography in the mid-20th century,

for example, was a harbinger of a radical transformation of American culture from a society predicated

on key presuppositions about what the Declaration of Independence calls,

life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, into one that has become increasingly mired

in moral relativism and an insatiable craving for entertainment, even of the most debased sort.

God wants you to be truly happy, and this is because he loves you. As the saying

goes, God loves me just the way I am. Yes, he does, but he loves you too much to let you stay that way.
