Let's go to Teresa in St. Paul, Minnesota. Good morning, Teresa. Hi, Patrick. My question is on baptism.

My daughter was married in the Catholic Church. Her husband was Luther, but now he says he just

believes there's a higher power. He doesn't want to say it's God.

So he's kind of changed his views on that since they've been married.

They do have three kids.

They're doing very well.

And my daughter said, I don't know that she wants to practice Catholic anymore.

She lets me take the kids to church when I'm at her house. But she said, Mom, if you want to baptism, baptize them, go ahead. But I don't believe,

I can't I talk to the priest at their church? He said, no, she has to come there. So is there anything

I can do to baptize them if she's giving me permission?

Well, one thing you could try, Teresa, would be if she gives you permission to not only bring them in for baptism,

but also gives you permission to kind of, in a way, help raise them by making sure they get to Mass on Sunday when they get older and be there to help them receive their sacraments.

That might be something that the pastor would say, okay, well, under those circumstances,

if there's somebody who's going to act on behalf of these children sacramentally, and as far

as the faith is concerned, then okay. But without anybody to do that,

the pastor is going to rightly say, no, I'm sorry. We would love to get these children baptized,

but you're going to be leaving them stranded in essentially a pagan household where they will

not be raised in the faith and they will not be able
