Over the past three years, the number of Americans who reported playing pickleball went from 5 million to 36.5 million according to the Association of Pickleball Professionals.

As the sport builds in popularity among amateur players, professional pickleball is also getting an influx of cash from sporting celebrities like Lebron James and Kevin Love.

I started playing about two months ago because I wanted to find ways to stay active as I got into my 50s.

Really the only things I'd heard about pickleball were that old people played it and that people who played tennis and used tennis courts really hated it.

And it's been great to do, found it to a group of friends.

As I started playing it, I really understood why it's so popular.

It's very accessible.

The learning curve compared to something like tennis is much smaller.

So it's really easy to get a grasp of.

It is an unexplainable addiction and a good one at that.
