critic Richard Lawson. Hello and our senior writer Joanna Robinson.

Hi Katie.

I honestly can't even remember like what we've done for Toronto

episodes of this podcast in years past.

I know one time Richard you and Mike and I were like in a studio in Toronto together and that was fun.

Like we've used audio from our in-person interviews.

Obviously none of that is happening right now.

The Toronto Film Festival is ongoing, but it is happening pretty much entirely virtually, including for movie goers mostly in Canada, which I'm curious about but that's a separate thing.

So Richard and I will talk about our virtual TIF experiences and some of the genuinely great movies we've seen despite all the challenges around it.

We're also going to talk about Joanna going to the movies and about the Emmys which are coming up and

then in the back half of the episode I got on the the phone with Devon Franklin, who was one of the Academy governors, who was really instrumental behind the inclusivity standards that got announced last week. We talked about them briefly, and as we said, we were planning to get into them again so

Devon Franklin really kind of breaks it down for me which was really exciting but
