Nehemiah is an interesting character in the Bible, a phenomenal leader, and today I want to give

us a little bit of a history lesson as we prepare to hit some of the highlights in Nehemiah's life.

So before we do anything else, I want to bring us back to Deuteronomy chapter 28.

And it's here that God told his people, the people of Israel, that he would bless them as a nation if they obeyed.

However, God also told the people that if they rebelled against him, that they would be taken into captivity.

Something similar was repeated to Solomon. You remember King Solomon, son of David. He was told that if he obeyed,

position of power that came with being the king of Israel.
