uh, uh, uh, Hello and welcome to a bonus episode of Bible stories.

Todd can't be with us today, so I didn't want to do that.

So we're gonna release this as just like a special little bonus. My name is Matt Mullins and I am your host for today.

I've got an exciting beginning to a story. When Todd comes back, we're going to be walking with

Nehemiah for a bit.

Nehemiah is an interesting character in the Bible, a phenomenal leader, and today I want to give

us a little bit of a history lesson as we prepare to hit some of the highlights in Nehemiah's life.

So before we do anything else, I want to bring us back to Deuteronomy chapter 28.

And it's here that God told his people, the people of Israel, that he would bless them as a nation if they obeyed.

And that's great news.

However, God also told the people that if they rebelled against him, that they would be taken into captivity.

Something similar was repeated to Solomon. You remember King Solomon, son of David. He was told that if he obeyed,

if King Solomon would follow the Lord that King Solomon would experience tremendous blessing if, however, Solomon rebelled against him

and didn't walk like his father David walked that the Lord would remove Solomon from the

position of power that came with being the king of Israel.

You know, no shocker.

Solomon did become a bad king.

You'll recall that Solomon, the son of the man after God's own heart that Solomon he

began to take many wives and he began to take on their faith and he himself began to worship false gods and we saw what

started is just this really promising kingship become something that was an
