Back at 2016, most mainstream conversations about weight were often about folks who were trying to lose weight.

But Elna found herself in a unique position one day while working on new episodes of the radio show and podcast, This American Life.

The way the story came about was we had a hole in the show, and so everyone was sort of

encouraged to pitch something that was kind of ready-made.

And recently, Elna had read Shrill by Lindy West, a fat author who wrote the book

about being a staunch feminist and being fat and the intersections of both, which had

also come out in 2016.

The parts of the book that detailed West's body acceptance journey resonated with
