Summary

Romans 9: 30-33 - What shall we say, then? That Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, a righteousness that is by faith; 31 but that Israel who pursued a law that would lead to righteousness did not succeed in reaching that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the stumbling stone, 33 as it is written,
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense;
and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.”

I want to ask you if you're ready to get your mind aligned with the truth of God.

0:12.0

And do you remember why I ask that question so often? It's because the way

0:17.1

we think in our minds is going to determine the way we live. And so it is vital that we as believers in Jesus

0:25.8

Christ get our minds aligned with God's truth. And I think there is no better

0:32.2

example of why that is necessary than this past section of the book of Romans that we've been studying.

0:40.0

Romans chapter 9 is a very difficult passage to accept, to align your mind with because it

0:46.8

teaches some things that go against just the very way we as human beings think we think of ourselves as free moral agents

0:55.9

those who are able to choose our destiny and in 90% of the time I would agree with that statement.

But Paul has revealed in Romans chapter 9

1:06.9

that we are only free to choose

1:09.4

within the boundaries of what we are,

1:12.2

which is human beings. We are not the sovereign God of the universe.

1:17.0

Only one takes that title, only one holds that place, and he is the one who ultimately chooses.

1:25.0

And Romans 9 has made that ultimately clear and so to get our minds aligned

1:31.0

with reality as God sees it is our task on these episodes of the

1:36.4

morning mindset. So as we wrap up Romans chapter 9 I want to first say hello

1:42.1

to friends who are listening around the world. We have folks in

1:45.1

Canada, in the United Kingdom, in Singapore, in Germany, in Kenya, in India, in the Philippines Philippines and of course in the United States. Welcome. I'm so

1:57.8

thankful that you're here. As we dive back into Romans chapter 9 we are

2:02.4

looking at verses 30 through 33. We're

wrapping up the chapter today and the apostle Paul is summarizing the point
