This audio is brought to you by Muslimcentral.com. Bismillah, al-hambhalat and Salat and Salam on Rassul-ilhah, and on al-Alihi and his and shah, man wala, amma-baid. So welcome to our lighthouse class. Today, inshallah, will be the final class for this semester, which is our first year, al-h-h-a-la. We'll be taking a break for summer, and then coming back, in shah-ah-ah-ta-a-a-a-a. In the month of August, the exact date, you'll be getting an update, inshallah, on the WhatsApp group, inshallah. And just before we continue, two things. Firstly, I was asked to do this, so I don't mind, al-h-h-a-h-l-a-free pitch for me.

Hamdil-Lah,

0:38.6

I am so,

0:39.3

so happy to get a copy

0:41.5

of my book special delivered. So right now, it's not available in America. So this was a courier ship to me from England. But, inshallah, it will be available. It's already available on pre-order on Amazon.

0:51.5

So free plug.

0:52.2

Yes, no doubt.

0:53.2

Sorry, not sorry, as you guys say in your generation.

0:55.5

But this is a plug for my book that... available on pre-order on Amazon. So free plug. Yes, no doubt. Sorry, not sorry, as you guys say

0:54.5

in your generation. But this is a plug for my book that long overdue. My first monograph,

1:01.9

a monograph is an academic book that is meant to get you a pay raise when you're in the academy.

1:08.3

That's a joke here. But I don't need to do that in terms of a not in the academy, but it's meant to demonstrate. It's like a second, third, fourth, PhD type of stuff. So this is like long overdue. It is a book on one of the trends of Islam that everyone of you is aware of. I used to be involved with, and it's an academic book. It's not a polemic, it's not an emotional rant. It's a very detailed study of the trend known as Salafism. Al-Hahah, 600 pages. It took me a solid eight years to write, not because I was doing it full-time, but because I was busy doing other things. But al-Hamda-Lah, finally it is out, and I'm very, very happy and humbled at this. So if you are interested, you can pre-order on Amazon just to find the book name, understanding

1:48.2

seraphism, seeking the path of the past predecessors.

1:51.4

I'm fairly confident, inshallah, I hope this doesn't come across as boastful, that it will sell out pretty soon.

1:56.3

So you should pre-order, inshallah, because, well, long story, but yeah, the number of copies

2:01.7

for the first edition is not as much as they're used to because they don't, my book sell

2:07.7

out more than academic books usually do, so the printing is not that high from this publisher,

2:14.6

but it will, inshallah, so if you are interested, do a pre-orders, what I'm saying, so that make sure you get it, inshallah. If you want more details about the book, I just posted about it online today, so you can get a quick summary of it, and if you're really, really interest, you can quickly skim it, inshallah after the class. Inshallah, with that that before we begin today's class a brief summary

2:36.0

once again of where we are what we're doing remember this class is about contextualizing

2:41.6

Islam for modernity it is about understanding what it means to be a Muslim as somebody who's

2:48.0

connected with a respectful tradition yet at the same time understands that that tradition

2:53.9

is not quite answering the questions of today.
