Summary

Dr. Joshua Wolrich (or as I call him, Dr. Josh) made a name for himself on social media as a doctor willing to speak out on subjects like diet myths (aka “nutribollocks” as he calls them) as well as weight stigma and food insecurities and so much more. After he himself went through a weight loss journey to discover a lot of the deceptions within diet culture, Dr. Josh then took those experiences to lead him into learning more and breaking down a lot of diet myths, like “good” or “bad” foods, since food holds no morality. This conversation is meant to make us think, learn, or unlearn while we also share the commonalities within our own experiences with weight loss and diet culture. With his new book Food Isn’t Medicine, Dr. Josh is here to push back against the mass amounts of bad health advice, with just a bit of humour of course, too.

About the book: “Food Isn't Medicine wades through nutritional science (both good and bad) to demystify the common diet myths that many of us believe without questioning. If you have ever wondered whether you should stop eating sugar, try fasting, juicing or 'alkaline water', or struggled through diet after diet (none of which seem to work), this book will be a powerful wake-up call. Drawing on the latest research and delivered with a dose of humour, it not only liberates us from the destructive belief that weight defines health but also explains how to spot the misinformation we are bombarded with every day.”

You can follow Dr. Joshua Wolrich on Instagram @DrJoshuaWolrich and find his book on preorder now, coming out on April 15, 2021.
