In any setting, there is one thing I won't give you,

and there's a one thing I don't want you to give me and stick with me on this because I think it requires a little bit of context.

That thing that I don't want to give or receive is sympathy. Now sympathy has a place,

right that's appropriate. You send sympathies when someone's grieving or when there's a loss.

You express your love and compassion for what that person's going through.

But I'm talking about sympathy here in the terms of,

I feel so sorry for her, or feel sorry for me because I don't

play that game because as your fellow human being, my promise to you is that I will always see you in your strength.

Now I share this story in Let It Be Easy My Book and it really gave me a this like this

spark of insight really early in my life that I have never forgotten I'm writing

about it now what What like 23, 24 years later?

That's how much it has stuck with me. And it was this.

When I was a kid I had a big sister from the Big Brother and

Big Sister Foundation and my big sister was awesome, right? She took me to the

movies, we went out for sodas, like it was a really lovely

break from living in the shelters that I was living in at the time. And I just, I loved that relationship and

I valued it a lot.

And one time I went to her place with her husband for lunch

and they made pasta and they served it with a fork and a spoon.

And as a kid, I mean, I wasn't easy to really manage.
