A couple producers and I recently sat down with a manual fare in Seattle.

We brought with us a stack of black and white photographs showing a group of 20-somethings

in Halloween costumes, all congregating in the apartments of the Valley View.

Well, Emmanuel, you can just kind of go through them.

So tell us who these people are right here.

One by one, Emmanuel lifted up each picture, turning it this way, mad.

Okay, so this looks like the back of Arpernel. She's standing right through with her back to us.

The Halloween party at the Valley View had taken place more than a decade earlier.

It lasted a grand total of seven hours.

But looking at the photos, it all came hurtling back to a manual, the

outfits, the decorations, the layout of the rooms.

Okay so this is in front of Leslie's and this is the table that we set up with the food and that's

Arpena at the table.

Emmanuel is talking about a woman named Leslie Potts.

She was a friend of Emmanuel's and the only person at the Valley View who he knew before the party.

He was crashing on Leslie's couch that weekend and it was through Leslie that he met some of the other party attendees like Neil Marshall the self-proclaimed arm wrestling champ
