Welcome to episode four of the Olasky interview. I'm Jill Nelson. Today's podcast includes Marvin Olasky's 2014 interview with Christian evangelist Luis Palau.

Palau was born and raised in Argentina and moved to Portland, Oregon in his mid-20s, where his ministry is now located.

He shared the gospel at outreach events across the globe and authored nearly 50 books.

Palau died in March at the age of 86 after a three-year battle with stage four lung cancer.

We have Marvin Olasky here to preview this interview.

Marvin, great to see you again.

Good to see you, Jill.

Ecclesiastes says man knows not his time, but Palau was battling lung cancer and initially given just four to 12 months to live.

I'd like to play a clip from KGW News in Portland, Oregon of Palau reflecting on his diagnosis.

But the assurance of eternal life, which is a gift of God,

that's what keeps your balance and peace and just the knowledge.

It's going to be a better change of address, you know.

Marvin, what are your thoughts on Palau's life?

I'm impressed with, after all these years, his evangelical emphasis, and at a time when so many

leaders of big churches, big ministries have been involved in scandal in some ways, very sad

that Luis and his sons, they're just doing it.

They're not enriching themselves.

They're just there to help people in the community and all over South America.

Well, this was somewhat of a unique conversation in that you interviewed Louise Palau

and his two sons.

How did that come about?
