Welcome to episode eight of the Olasky interview. I'm Jill Nelson. Today you'll hear Marvin

Olasky's 2012 interview with American politician Frank Wolf. Wolf served 34 consecutive years in Congress

representing Virginia's 10th District. He's been a leading crusader for human rights and is called

persecution across the globe. And we have Marvin here to tell us a bit more about this interview.

Marvin, great to see you again. Oh, great to see you, Jill. Well, I think one thing that stood out to me

in your conversation with Frank Wolf is his global travel. He's been to Sudan, Ethiopia, and Romania, among many

other places. And you get this sense that he just hasn't been afraid to leave his DC office and go see

for himself what's happening in these far-flung regions and then take his human rights concerns back

to Washington. What about his work in this area strikes you as particularly vital?

When you talk about global travel for many members of Congress, it is sometimes traveled

to a place that has the four seasons and it's easy to get to and you eat good food and so forth.

Frank went to Sudan five times.

He didn't just spout out about stuff.

He went there and he helped to bring attention to the Darfur genocide, lots of other things too.

That's not an easy trip.

And he took some other hard trips to.

And during all his years in Congress, all the way from

1981 to his retirement in 2015, he kept the spotlight on persecution in China at a time when

there was lots of pressure just to go along with them. Don't worry about what they're doing. Don't

pay attention to it. Let's just make a trade deal. So a gutsy guy who went to see things at ground level.
