but first, according to Reuters,

there are rogue communication devices

that have been found in Chinese solar power converters.

These communication devices that are not listed

in product documents have been found

in some Chinese solar power inverters by U.S. experts

who stripped down the equipment hooked up to the grids to check for security issues.

These components provide additional undocumented communication channels that could allow firewalls

to be circumvented remotely.

It's possible that China could use these devices to trigger widespread blackouts.

Back in May of last year, the Wall Street Journal reported on communications devices found

in Chinese-made cranes in U.S. ports.
