a 500-page report.

The group recommending that creation of a special office that would focus on cash payments to

the descendants of former slaves.

Governor Newsom launched the panel in 2020.

California was admitted into the USA as a free state in 1850, but slavery and forced labor

did persist there for decades.

So it looks like California taxpayers will eventually have to pay reparations.
