So I read through your book, Lies and The Doctor told me, Medical Myths that

can harm your health.

I've got it right here for any of our viewers.

And I'd love to talk about some of the major medical myths

that you discussed that are totally inaccurate,

but really maintain that embrace

as the mainstream medical wisdom that's taken hold of you know so many public health

authorities but first can you describe for our listeners kind of what led you to write

this book to begin with yeah the the main impetus for this book was that as a family physician

working full-time in the emergency department and also full-time clinical practice, I became severely

obese and pre-diabetic and so for you know common sense

people common sense makes common sense and so if I were a mechanic and my car, literally I was stranded on the side of the road once a week with my car wouldn't start, people would go, I'm not taking my car to that guy.

Or if I were a cosmetologist, a hairdresser,

and my hair was awful, people would be like,
