Summary

There was a legend in central Maine, about a hermit who had lived in the woods, unseen, for 30 years. Then, in 2013, the police arrested a man named Christopher Knight.

0:57.8	So this story takes place on the shores of a lake.
1:00.7	About an hour's drive inland from the main coast called the North Pond.
1:04.9	The North Pond isn't big, maybe a mile long, half a mile wide.
1:08.4	And like a lot of lakes in the area, there aren't many folks who live there year round.
1:12.6	A lot of people have what they call camps.
1:15.4	And these are like very small cabins and it goes on for generations and generations.
1:21.3	This is Mike Finkle, he's a journalist.
1:23.6	And he's going to be a big part of this story.
1:25.2	You'll see why in just a little bit.
1:27.2	But he says that back in the 80s in these cabins on the pond, 86, 87, things started to
1:32.4	go missing.
1:33.4	Little things.
1:35.8	Some people are missing some steaks in the freezer.
1:38.0	Some people are missing beer.
1:39.2	Some people are missing propane tank.
1:41.6	There's no damage.
1:42.6	And just around that time when a rash of break ins might normally stop, they don't.
