So a little while back, I finished the book written by Nike founder Phil Knight called Shudog.

It was sent to me by friend and HPF alumni Shane. Thanks again,

Shane. It's a good read. I recommend it. Flipping through it again, recently I came across the passage

that I had underlined and circled and put several stars next to. Obviously, it captured my

attention. The passage was about luck. And Phil, like a lot of other uber successful people, are always asked if they

think they were just lucky or if luck made the difference in their success. I always find this

question to be a bit insulting, personally. I find it to be sort of the reasoning or the internal

justification or the excuse making going on in the mind of the questioner,

to justify why themselves are not more successful, that, well, they just weren't as lucky as that

person. So that's why they have to continue to live paycheck to paycheck, instead of living the

dreams in their head. The reality is we're all surrounded by luck all day every day. As we walk through our day,

we are bombarded with billions of sensory inputs. All of what you see, all of what you hear,

all of what you feel. You are swimming in a sea of infinite inputs, infinite possibilities,

infinite lucky options. Now, you will only ever see and hear and feel what it is that you're looking for.

If you are looking for abundance, prosperity, opportunity, growth, success, love, compassion,

and hope, you will find it. If you are looking for danger, scarcity, bleakness, misery, illness,

hopelessness, you will find it. What you are actively training

your mind to look for, it will find. What you expect to discover will manifest itself in results

in your life. That is why lucky people keep being lucky, and why unlucky people keep having

unlucky things happen to them.
