Good evening once again. I'm Stephanie Rule. We are now just 11 days away from the

election. Our Friday nightcap team is starting in just a moment, but first we

have breaking news in the Middle East. Israel has

confirmed that it launched strikes in Iran. The IDF is calling them

precise strikes on military targets. It is a response to Iran launching

nearly 200 missiles at Israel

earlier this month. Tonight strikes are once again ramping up concerns of an all

out war in the region. I want to bring in NBC foreign correspondent Matt Bradley he is in Beirut

Lebanon Matt what is the latest?

Yeah well Stephanie we don't know exactly what is going on now we've heard and

it was quoted by the New York Times and Israeli

officials say that the strike is over none of these actual strikes hit Iran

itself it looks as though they hit targets outside Iran They didn't hit and this was a major

concern for American diplomats and the Biden administration. They didn't seem to

hit nuclear installations or energy installations. That was a main concern because they

were worried that this might invite some sort of further retaliation by the Iranians.

This strike was the retaliation in itself.

It was Israel firing back against Iran's strikes, about 188 ballistic missiles fired October 1st at Israel.

Most of them didn't really even fall in Israel.

They were captured by the Israeli missile defense systems and now it looks as though

given what we've seen that this could be something like a repeat of what we saw

back in April where there was that unprecedented tit for tat between the Iranians and the Israelis
