A la part I'm Chris Hewitt and welcome to a very special edition of the Empire Podcast dedicated

to the nice guys, Shane Black's Tryumphant Return to the Big Screen as writer and director.

Now, this isn't a spoiler special, there won't be four people afterwards talking about the movie in great detail.

It is instead an interview special. A couple weeks ago we staged a screening of the movie at the Gate Cinema in Notting Hill

and afterwards I moderated a lengthy Q&A with Shane Black and his longtime producer Joel Silver, the two of them worked together for roughly 30 years.

As you may or may not know, these guys pretty much defined the modern action movie collaborating on classics of the genre like Predator,

where Black was part of the cast, and then Lisa Weapon, the last boy scout, and of course, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang,

Shane Black's Tryumphant Return to the Big Screen in 2005. What follows, what you're about to hear, will be most of that Q&A.

So if you didn't manage to get a ticket, don't despair, you're going to hear most of it here.

A few notes before we go on, this was a live Q&A, and as it was live, sadly we had a few technical problems with the microphones, we had feedback, there's going to be an intermittent hiss at times

throughout some of the answers, Joel Silver's microphone was not quite as loud as Shane Black's and so on and so on and so forth.

So the sound quality isn't quite as flawless as you may have come to expect from the Empire podcast, but if you can get past that,

hopefully you're going to hear a cracking interview. Oh, and also we didn't have a working-roving microphone for the audience Q&A section, so I have to repeat the questions.

I didn't repeat them all live on the night, so you will hear my disembodied voice jump in during the interview and repeat some of the audience questions.

I hope it doesn't put you off too much. Now with all that out of the way, sit back, relax, and enjoy Shane Black and Joel Silver,

two of my favorite filmmakers on very entertaining and very candid form. You could even say that they're nice guys, but I would advise against that because that is too goddamn cheesy. Enjoy.
