Summary

This week, we’re breaking down everything we watched recently and then debating the top 5 greatest movie villains of all time. First, we review a wide range of films, from timeless classics to recent releases. Tyler Johns gives his thoughts on Ben-Hur (1959), The Mummy (1999), They Will Kill You, and The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, while Lance Taylor weighs in on Hoosiers, M (1931), Send Help, and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Some of these movies are easy recommendations, some are fun but flawed, and a couple get absolutely buried. Then we reveal our personal top 5 movie villains ever. Names like Darth Vader, The Joker, Anton Chigurh, John Doe, Calvin Candie, Nurse Ratched, Alex Forrest, and Godzilla all make the conversation. Who is the most iconic villain in movie history? Who is the most terrifying? And who deserves the number one spot? We also talk about a couple of upcoming releases worth watching, including The Drama from A24 starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, and the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy movie. If you love movie reviews, classic cinema, thriller talk, and ranking the greatest villains in film history, this episode is for you. Comment below with your top 5 movie villains of all time and let us know which movie we reviewed that you’d most want to watch next. Hey, welcome into another edition of The Next Real with Tyler Johns. I'm Lance Taylor, where we talk films, movie, entertainment. We're all over the place.

0:08.7

We start first with what we saw this past week. I've got four films I'm going to get into, but I'll let you go first if you want.

0:17.5

All right. I've only got, well, I guess I technically have four films over the

0:22.0

past weekend, but first couple I saw weren't very good. I saw the new AI documentary where this guy

0:29.7

wants to be more optimistic on the future of AI and just skip this one all together. It was

0:35.6

basically propaganda. Where is it? What's that?

0:38.3

What streaming service?

0:40.3

Oh, it's in theaters.

0:41.3

Oh, okay, damn. I hadn't even heard of this.

0:43.3

You probably did on the viewing menu last week when I wasn't in, but I didn't know that we had a film.

0:49.3

So it's a documentary?

0:50.3

Yeah, so the premise of it is that this guy wants to have a kid and he wants to know if it's a good time to have a kid given the prevalence of AI and the conversations around it, taking away human jobs or even destroying the human race.

1:09.0

And so he basically just goes to people who work for different AI companies and ask them,

1:15.5

well, make me feel better about this.

1:17.1

How can I feel better about this?

1:18.3

Do they make him feel better about it?

1:19.8

They try.

1:21.0

And then whenever they fail to make him feel better about it, he just goes to a different interview.

1:26.7

And so it felt very dishonest.

1:30.3

So almost scripted?

1:33.3

Yeah, it felt like it just was an ad for some of these companies.

1:37.3

Okay, so we'll pass, but let me ask you this question because you're young. If you knew
