My guest today, Kevin Carey, is the director of the Higher Education program at New America.

He's somebody I've known a long time across multiple different jobs in education policy.

Really one of the most thoughtful people, I think, on higher education.

Somebody who asks the big questions about what are these institutions for and what are we trying to do with them.

I was really excited to sit down with him.

We talk about the student debt relief issue that has sort of dominated the conversation lately.

It's a little bit of a shallow policy question.

We wind up getting into much deeper issues.
