One note before we start the show. This conversation was recorded on September 8th, 2022,

before the current protests across Iran. So we had to consider not airing this episode.

But Masha Voital said his views actually have not shifted at all. He says the protest could cause

internal pressure on the government to do something to calm the people down. What the people

want is a deal with the West. It should make them more flexible and signed a deal.

Masha Voital says these protests likely won't evolve into a revolution.

He says if it ever did, it would turn Iran into a secular country and not a religious one.

Enjoying the Western world and becoming a secular nation.

So with that said, this conversation is actually even more relevant than on the day we recorded it.

Iran seemed very, very special, very unique because it was a country that was closed for so many

years or decades actually. It missed out on so many pro opportunities that other emerging markets

experienced. And it was suddenly opening up. That very good thing was also that there were no

other foreign investors in the market. So there was a tremendous investment of opportunity.
