Good morning. It's Sunday, July the 20th. The outcry for more transparency over the Epstein

files continues to cause turmoil for Donald Trump, despite his best efforts to make the scandal go away.

In fact, the president's attempt to quash the story may well have had the opposite effect,

dredging up details both old and new about the president's one-time friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.

On the front page of the New York Times today, for example, you'll find a long retrospective about their 15-year friendship,

which compiles the publicly known information about the connection between the two men,

including the fact that Epstein and the British socialite, Elaine Maxwell,

were occasional guests at Mar-a-Lago.

Maxwell has long been tied to Epstein,

and she's currently serving 20 years in prison for recruiting and grooming teenage girls

in connection to Epstein's crimes.

Trump has never been accused of any sort of wrongdoing in connection to Epstein's crimes. Trump has never been accused of any

sort of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein's case and has said he was not aware of Epstein's

criminal activity. The two had a falling out in 2004, which the Times reports was the result of a

dispute over a piece of real estate in Florida. Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal's report about

what it described as a

bawdy letter that Trump once wrote Epstein caused the president to sue the reporters behind the story,

as well as the journal's publishers, including Dow Jones and News Corporation owner, Rupert Murdoch.

Trump denied writing the letter telling the journal that it was, quote, a fake thing.

He also called the report, quote, a fake Wall Street Journal story.

But new reporting suggests that Trump may meet with more formidable resistance from Murdoch and the journal than he has in other recent cases that he's brought against media for coverage that he didn't like.
