Hello and welcome to the Byron York Show, the no-chit chat podcast.

We like to get right into it and what we're going to get into is really a double issue,

the new speaker of the house and Ukraine.

Now as I speak, Republicans are getting together trying to work through the issues to find

a new speaker.

Maybe if their speaker is chosen and elected between the time I'm recording this and the

time you're listening to this, it'll be a little out of date, but I just don't think

that's going to happen anytime super soon.

I don't know, maybe we'll see some great display of Republican unity, but maybe not.

Okay, so let's just kind of set the scene here.

The political world is at the moment is consumed with the fighting in the Middle East,

the fighting going on after Hamas is attacked on Israel.

Obviously, there are lots of questions.

The news is just horrendous.

How could the vaunted Israeli intelligence services have been so surprised?

How extensive will Israel's retaliation be?

Will the conflict spread around the Middle East?

I mean, there are a lot of things to talk about.

They're important.

But for Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill, working on this speaker issue, the most

pressing policy issue still concerns another part of the world and that is Ukraine.

How much money should the U.S. spend supporting Ukraine as it fights Russian invaders?
