Summary

Rachel and Melinda are joined, once again, by Stephanie Savage, The Executive Producer and Writer on The OC, to discuss, "The New Kids On the Block" (S2 Ep 3). Stephanie reveals the reason behind the creation of The Bait Shop and why the Cohen's house was under construction. They also dive into the purpose behind bringing Zach, Alex, Lindsay, and DJ onto The OC, and how they develop the storyline. Listen in to hear all three ladies gush about the male cast this season, and the "scruff" that makes them irresistible. Seth says everything we wish we could say as teenagers, and teaches us the most important lesson of all- that life is about learning from our mistakes. The New Kids On the Block Synopsis: Seth is on a quest for selflessness to win Summer’s friendship. He gets a job working for Alex at the music venue The Bait Shop so that he could get tickets for The Walkmen, to give to Summer and Zach. New student Lindsay and Ryan start off on the wrong foot, and when they’re assigned as lab partners, they’re both convinced they can’t work together. Caleb assigns Julie as the new CEO of the Newport Group, shocking Kirsten and Sandy.

0:59.8	thing. So you know, we're we're moving right along in this second season. I'm really into this
1:05.2	season. There's a lot happening. There wasn't in the first. It's just really fun. We're introducing a
1:13.1	lot of new characters and storylines. And I just think it's a lot of fun. Oh, it's a great it's a
1:21.1	great season for both of us, especially. I just remember getting very juicy storylines and
1:26.9	there's so much coming up. And but before we get into that, I just had a few questions. Some of
1:32.3	the same questions that we actually asked Josh that there was so much storyline burned through
1:37.8	after 27 episodes. Yeah. Season one. And do you remember the overall physical and mental
1:44.5	feeling of you guys in the writers room and just and how you spent your hiatus? I think it was
1:50.0	like fumes and exhaustion. And I don't remember much of a hiatus. In fact, these I rewatched the first
1:56.2	four episodes of season two. And it's hilarious to me. I think we came back so quickly like because
2:02.8	we had done 27 episodes that ate into our hiatus that like the the the renovation on the Cohen set
2:11.4	was not finished. So we had to write into the show that there's like four episodes where there's
2:20.4	plastic sheet hanging down because our construction team has not finished their work. Yeah. But
2:26.0	was that our construction team wore shirts? It worked while we were shooting. But like they were
2:32.7	they hadn't finished the bait shop wasn't built. So that didn't premiere until episode three. We had
