And today, as President Trump's tariff battle heats up,

we're asking a question that just a decade ago seemed unthinkable.

Is the era of globalization over?

Since the end of World War II, America sold an optimistic vision of free trade.

Goods and services, people and ideas flowing across borders would lift all boats.

A more interconnected world would be more peaceful, it would be more prosperous.

Everybody wins. But today, the United States is telling a very

different story, one where America is being ripped off. The rest of the world is taking advantage.

The Trump administration's new vision is one where strong countries dictate terms, deals are zero

sum, and everyone looks out for themselves.

We're seeing fewer open markets, more political fights over trade, and rising backlash from people who feel left behind.

My guest today says this doesn't mean globalization is disappearing entirely, but it is

giving way to a new era what he calls globalization.

So what happens when globalization's biggest backer becomes its biggest critic?

Will China, will Europe step in to lead?

Trump recently announced a few deals that leave some tariffs in place,

and his tariffs have had a limited impact on the global economy so far.

But is this just the calm before a very big storm?
