Today's tip is to think about moving.

Yes, that is a huge thing to consider.

But if your job can be done anywhere, it's important to consider whether somewhere else might have enough benefits to justify the pain of moving there.

And maybe you will stay put, but you could move. You want to consider the possibility.

One of the reasons my husband and I left New York City many years ago is that we realized that we didn't have particularly good reasons to stay.

Neither of us had to be there daily for our jobs, and with young kids we weren't exactly taking advantage of the city's nightlife.

So we looked for somewhere cheaper and where we could have more space.

We wound up out in Pennsylvania, and neither of us particularly has to be here either, but we've got good schools in a much different lifestyle.

If you are working from home long term, it's quite possible that your job can be done anywhere too.

So you might consider if that anywhere should be somewhere other than where you are.

First, a practical matter. Maybe you want to move to a home where you could have a dedicated home office.

Especially if you and your spouse are both working from home, an office has some real upsides.

Second, maybe you want to consider somewhere with a lower cost of living, somewhere that you could get that office.

If you think you might be coming into your organization's physical offices one day a week in the future, you could expand your radius to within two hours of the office,

rather than the 45 minutes or so that you might deem tolerable for a daily commute.
