Today's tip is to create your own soundscape. When you're working remotely, you have the opportunity to control the soundtrack for your work.

So take advantage of this opportunity to boost your productivity and mood.

If sitcoms and comic strips are any indication, plenty of people find office sounds distracting, cracking knuckles, whispered phone arguments that were awkwardly audible, sniffles and sneezes.

That's why when you're in an office, headphones are key. At home, though, you can consider more options.

What do you like to hear when you're working? Silence, white noise, the sound of the outdoors like singing birds or wind rustling through the trees, music, and if so, what kind of music?

Also, notice what may be competing with your ideal soundtrack. Other people in your house, yard worker, maintenance at your neighbor's houses, traffic, barking dogs, other outdoor sounds,

once you know what you want and what you want to block out, you can find the tools you need.

For starters, if nature sounds work for you and the weather is cooperative, open your windows.

If you prefer working in silence, you could try noise-cancelling headphones, though they're often pricey. A lower cost option is old-fashioned disposable earplugs.

I like max pillow-soft earplugs, I wear them at night and they can work for work too.
