Summary

This week we speak to the Athletic’s national NBA columnist about the 2018-2019 NBA season that has come and gone and whether anyone has a chance to upset the set up against the Warriors. We talk the Washington Wizards troubles, Lebron’s first year in Los Angeles, and MVP picks. We also have ‘Choice Words’ on the plan to demolish the San Jose State track and put up a parking lot. Joni Mitchell never lied. We also have TWO Just Stand Up awards and an announcement of an extra interview for Patreon subscribers. All that and more! A team where Bradley Beale is their best player, but they're only also asset that they could probably get something for if they trade him,

0:07.5

a team that doesn't have a great deal of young talent in the tank, a team that's overextended in terms of contracts.

0:15.4

Like what is the future? Is there any hope on the horizon?

0:19.6

I would say that if there was a list of teams with hope in the NBA,

0:24.6

that the Wizards would be right near the bottom.

0:27.6

Wow.

0:28.6

If not at the bottom.

0:29.6

Welcome to the Edge of Sports podcast. I depart to that run.

This week, it's one of my favorite shows we look back at the NBA season that was in the

0:45.7

playoffs that are coming with Athletic National NBA Beat Reporter Michael Lee.

0:51.7

Also, I've got some choice words about paving paradise and putting up a parking lot.

0:57.9

Also got some Just Stand Up and Just Sit Down awards and more. But first, let's go to Michael Lee.

1:09.4

From the Michael Lee perspective, Virginia Auburn, was it a foul? Was it not a foul? Do you call it? Do you not call it? Please break it down for us.

1:22.0

It was a foul. I mean, it was the last shot and he clipped him at the leg. I don't really think there's much debate. I mean, you can say it shouldn't happen that late, but that's the most critical part of the game. Like, that's when you can't really hold your whistles, especially if it affected the shot. I mean, if he had released the ball and he got clipped, I probably will let a slide, but he clipped him right as he was releasing the ball. So that affected the shot. And, you know, there's a way to defend without getting under a guy. You know, why they have those rules in place to where you don't, you don't slot under a guy while he's in the air. I mean, once he left his feet, you know, that that was where you just kind of back off. But he kept going into him.

2:01.8

So that's a foul. That's a foul. People are so mad about it, though, talking about the double

2:06.2

dribble beforehand that wasn't called. Well, that's a different situation, right? And the rest,

2:11.2

in that, in the rest eyes are not necessarily looking at the, you know, at the ball, you know, to that closely.

2:19.9

But in real time, you know, it probably didn't look like a double dribble.

2:24.2

Like if you think somebody just liked the ball and the guy played it all so smoothly to get

2:29.3

going.
