All right. Let's see if I can still remember how to do this. Okay, okay. On today's show, the National Rifle Association is broke.

During the past two years, it has tried to declare bankruptcy several times.

Membership is down.

It's been operating in the red and during the past four years

has been unable sometimes to pay its taxes and now starting

Monday Wayne La Pierre who has run the NRA for nearly three decades goes on trial inside a New York City courtroom

facing charges that he and two other top leaders of the National Rifle Association

stole as much as $45 million from the organization.

The NRA's downfall has been swift and has gone pretty much undetected.

Now back in 2016 you couldn't get elected president unless the NRA endorsed you and sent you money.

But since then, membership has been cut in half.

Dews are drying up and most of the money that the National Rifle Association

has left is being spent on lawyers, accountants, and bookkeeping. The NRA is a shadow of its former self, partly

because polling shows that the majority of Americans are disgusted by gun violence and most Americans see the National

Rifle Association as an advocate for gun manufacturers as opposed to the second amendment. That's part of it. The other reason

the NRA is in trouble is financial mismanagement and that financial mismanagement comes to a head

starting on Monday when the great New York State Attorney General

Latisha James puts the NRA and Wayne La Pierre on trial accusing

Wayne La Pierre of, among other things, pocketing $45 million that belonged to the National Rifle Association.

This is going to be a monumental trial.

The NRA has already asked for bankruptcy protection,

but that was denied by the courts.
