Luke introduces this discourse by telling us that Jesus was continuing his journey to Jerusalem,

but in somewhat of a leisurely pace going through each village and town along the way and

taking the opportunity of preaching the kingdom of God and of healing those who were afflicted

in those areas. But on one occasion we are told that someone comes up to Jesus and asks this

question, Lord, are there few who are saved? Have you ever asked that question?

Did you ever wonder what proportion of fallen humanity in the final analysis would make it

to heaven? Is it the majority of humankind that God saves? Or is it but a remnant?
