Hi everyone, a quick note before we begin.

This season of the Dual Lingo Spanish podcast is serialized.

So if you haven't heard the previous episodes yet,

In our last episode, we went back in time to the 1920s

to witness the shipwreck of the Itata

and Jorge and Elba's desperate attempt to make it to shore.

It was August 29, 1922, hours after the Vaporita Thata had sank

and the first survivors, or sub-revivientes, were washing up on shore.

In the nearby village of Los Chodos, 60-year-old Gregoa de Afredeves

looked out her window and saw two boys running towards her house.

Two young people came to see me.

They told me that a boat had fallen on the beach of the Chodos

and that they were looking for food and a piece of cake to help people.

If there were sub-revivientes, they needed to help immediately.

Gregoa had lived in the Chodos her whole life

and shipwrecks were not uncommon in her small seaside village.

She knew that time was of the essence.

Someone had to go help the survivors,

so she packed some supplies and headed towards the beach.

But this shipwreck was unlike any she had ever seen.

In the distance, Gregoa saw two people lying on the beach.
